The T-38 Aircraft Maintenance Technician maintains all aspects of the T-38 aircraft, support equipment, and forms and records. This role performs crew chief, repair and reclamation, quality assurance, maintenance support functions, sortie generation, ground handling, and servicing operations. In addition, they will be responsible for performing aircraft inspections such as preflight, thru-flight, postflight, hourly postflight, special inspections, and isochronal inspections. They will also, advise on problems, maintenance, servicing, and inspection of aircraft and related aerospace equipment and utilize technical data to diagnose and solve maintenance problems on aircraft systems.
Job Responsibility:
Maintains all aspects of the T-38 aircraft, support equipment, and forms and records
Performs crew chief, repair and reclamation, quality assurance, maintenance support functions, sortie generation, ground handling, and servicing operations
Performs aircraft inspections such as preflight, thru-flight, postflight, hourly postflight, special inspections, and isochronal inspections
Advises on problems, maintenance, servicing, and inspection of aircraft and related aerospace equipment
Utilizes technical data to diagnose and solve maintenance problems on aircraft systems
Inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains aircraft structures, engines, hydraulic, and other related systems, components, and equipment
Assists in launching and recovering aircraft
Removes and installs T-38 aircraft assemblies, engines, and engine components
Conducts operational checks and repairs / replaces damaged components and systems
Performs T-38 ground engine operations
Adjusts, aligns, and rigs aircraft systems
Accomplishes aircraft weight and balance functions
Performs T-38 aircraft jacking, lifting, mooring, and towing operations
Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions
Inspects and checks components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation, and operation
Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair
Reviews maintenance data collection summaries to determine trends and production effectiveness
Performs crash recovery duties
Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation
Performs pre-use inspections and operates powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment
Inventories and maintains aircraft mission equipment
May be required to perform entry and maintenance tasks in confined spaces
Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures
Uses automated maintenance systems. Inputs, validates, and analyzes data processed to automated systems
Inspects, clears, and closes out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems
Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements
Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes
Inventories and maintains alternate mission equipment. Inventories and maintains aircraft equipment
Use automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database
Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks
Maintain strict tool control procedures. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools
Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor
Maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
5+ years of tactical Aircraft Maintenance experience with fixed / rotary wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft
Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A3X3 Tactical Aircraft Maintenance or 2A5X1 Airlift/Special Mission Aircraft Maintenance experience highly desirable
Multi aspect aviation qualifications / certifications / disciplines and abilities
Experience supporting DoD contracts
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within depot level maintenance
Background in TCTO application a plus
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification a plus
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
Nice to have:
Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A3X3 Tactical Aircraft Maintenance or 2A5X1 Airlift/Special Mission Aircraft Maintenance experience
Background in TCTO application
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification
