Job Description:

The Aircraft Mechanic I - LUH-72 A&P performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.

Job Responsibility:

  • Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components
  • Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems
  • Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks
  • Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections
  • Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment
  • Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance
  • Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft
  • Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance
  • Performs additional duties including maintenance duties, as requested
  • When required can use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties
  • Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality)
  • Will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks
  • may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, certification of education level is required
  • Valid FAA A&P Certificate Required
  • Shall have three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS)
  • All experience must be within the six most recent years
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox
  • Must be able to work, day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Passport and be able to travel internationally
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift, as assigned by Union
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a (Secret Clearance) US Government Clearance
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems
  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects
  • Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification
