The Aircraft Mechanic I - LUH-72 A&P performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components
Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems
Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks
Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections
Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required
Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment
Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance
Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft
Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance
Performs additional duties including maintenance duties, as requested
When required can use Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties
Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality)
Will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks
may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, certification of education level is required
Valid FAA A&P Certificate Required
Shall have three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS)
All experience must be within the six most recent years
Valid Driver’s License
Must provide own tools/toolbox
Must be able to work, day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift
Must be eligible to obtain a Passport and be able to travel internationally
Must be willing and able to work any shift, as assigned by Union
Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility
Must be able to obtain and maintain a (Secret Clearance) US Government Clearance
Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems on the assigned MDS
Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine
Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems
Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects
Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by aircraft mechanic
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day
Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications
Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification
