Job Responsibility

  • Repairs and replaces aircraft structural components to include stingers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.
  • Repairs, fabricates, modifies and installs structural parts, forming blocks, and shapes metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques.
  • Mixes and applies fiberglass materials.
  • Balances rotary-wing aircraft blades.
  • Makes emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures.
  • Uses common measuring tools, precision measuring gages, and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs.
  • Performs checks
  • carry out inspections and removal of components.
  • Mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces.
  • Applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals.
  • Comprehends technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Requisitions bench stock for repair of aircraft structures.
  • Prepares request for turn ins and repair parts and structural components.
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on common and special tools.
  • Performs final checks on assembly and installation of parts that were replaced.
  • Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.

  • Removes and disassemble defective parts of the aircraft.
  • Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Performs additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired
  • certification of education level is required.
  • Valid up-to-date A&P license (optional)
  • Shall have three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience must be within the six most recent years.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox. Recruiters will provide toolbox requirements to candidates upon selection
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

  • Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, inspects jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.
  • Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction.
  • Work involves: replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment
  • removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
