Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking a motivated and skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Surface Finisher to join our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team at RAAF Amberley. In this key role, you will play a vital part in supporting the Australian Defence Force by maintaining and finishing aircraft and components to the highest standards. Your expertise will directly contribute to the operational readiness and safety of critical Defence aerospace programs.
Job Responsibility:
Perform surface finishing tasks on aircraft and components, ensuring compliance with all technical documentation and quality standards
Certify completed work and maintain accurate maintenance records
Provide supervision and on-the-job training to junior technicians
Collaborate with maintenance planning teams to support aircraft servicing schedules
Promote and uphold a safe working environment by following EH&S policies
Participate in shift rotations, including A and B shifts
Requirements:
Certificate III in Aeroskills (Surface Finishing) or equivalent qualification
Demonstrated understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and ability to self-certify maintenance tasks
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Negative Vetting 1)
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace
Hold a current C class driver's license
Nice to have:
Previous experience in aircraft surface finishing is highly desirable
Additional qualifications such as Elevated Work Platform (TLILIC2005A), Work Safely at Heights (RIIOHS204A), and Confined Space training are advantageous
