Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Aircraft Assembly Electrical Mechanics (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift! This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience, and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively. Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. Job Responsibility:
Complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications
Adhere to high standards of safety and quality
Comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
Ensure work conforms to engineering drawings and specifications, has First Pass Quality (FPQ) and is free from Foreign Object Debris
Use computers and software applications in a production environment
Look up, read, and comprehend technical work instructions, drawings, and specifications
Wear required protective clothing/equipment
Operate various mechanical lifts (e.g. ladders, scissor lift and aerial lifts)
Use chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and finishes
Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and potential exposure to constant noise
Read from a computer screen, printed drawings or documents
Route of wire harness to supports per blueprint instruction & Boeing specifications for the 787 program
Build connectors, splice wires, crimp, and terminate wires
Install connectors to receptacles and electronic components
Perform repairs and rework processes to incorporate authorized changes outlined by engineering instructions
Perform fiber optic clean and inspection, light loss testing, routing and installation
Perform Bond & Ground operations to include CRNs, jumpers, ground stud installation & resistance testing
Requirements:
Ability to work a variable shift
Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as: flexion and extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking, climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting)
Ability to carry/lift up to 10-35 pounds
Ability to work with High Hazard Chemicals
6+ months experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications
6+ months experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English
6+ months experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power, and pneumatic (air) tools
6+ months experience with various wiring design drawings including system interconnects, wire routing and equipment installation drawings
Nice to have:
3+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Completion of degree or certification from a trade school and/or A&P license
3+ years in aerospace or manufacturing with wire routing, dressing, hook-up/mating connections
3+ years in aerospace or manufacturing with wire resistance/continuity check ins
3+ years in aerospace or manufacturing with wire rework (wire repair, rerouting, connector disconnect, pin removal/install)
3+ years in aerospace or manufacturing with wire connections
splicing, soldering and heat shrink
3+ years in aerospace or manufacturing with connector build up
