This position is based at Norwich Airport. Under the direction of the Air Traffic Engineering Manager undertakes maintenance and rectification of airport Primary Surveillance Radar and displays, Airfield Navigational aids and Ground to Air/Ground Communications Systems. Environment: Office, workshop, equipment rooms, working at heights of 30m and outdoor working, 39 hours per week plus call in as required. Supervisory responsibilities: On appointment he/she will become certified through Local Air Traffic Safety Engineering Personnel (ATSEP) training, manufacturer training and competency assessment to be proficient in maintaining Air Traffic Services safety critical equipment. Once trained the post holder will be expected to work without supervision and act on his/her own initiative and authority. He/she will also be required to supervise external contractors and engineers whilst carrying maintenance and repair of equipment and demonstrate safe workshop practices in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Job Responsibility
To act in the absence of the Air Traffic Engineering Manager on operational and technical matters
Maintenance, modification and repair of the following Air Traffic Control equipment, Thales Star 2000 Primary Radar, Indra ILS Nova 9000 Radar Display System, NDB, DME, fixed – vehicle & mobile VHF/UHF Communications, Rohde & Schwarz VCS 4G Voice Switch, Crash Alarm, Public Address System, Metcom and Afcom Meteorological equipment, first line maintenance on standby generators and UPS equipment and ATC Recording Systems
Maintenance of technical records in accordance with regulatory requirements
Participation and co-operation in the management of Critical Spares, storage and tool control
Management, control and use of Calibrated Test and Measuring Equipment (TME)
Following procedures in accordance with local and regulatory documents
To undertake other tasks and duties commensurate with the post as requested by the Air Traffic Engineering Manager
Requirements
A recognised qualification in Electronic Engineering preferably in communications
Experience in the maintenance and repair of surveillance, navigational and communications equipment is desirable but not essential
GCSE or above in Maths and English
Have Safe colour perception
Hold a UK Driving Licence
Administer 1st Aid (preferable)
Have experience in Radio operation
First Aid (electric shock treatment)
Health and Safety Procedures
Have the ability to be a good Communicator – written and verbal
Liaise with immediate & Senior Management in a polite and courteous manner at all times
Show authority and to act commensurate with his/her post in certain situations
