Job Description

To provide aerodrome (ADI) and/or radar approach (APS) control at Norwich Airport in accordance with Manual of Air Traffic Services Parts 1 (CAP 493) and 2, UK Regulation (EU) 2017/373 ‘The ATM/ANS IR’, the Aerodrome Manual and our Safety Management System.

Job Responsibility

  • To provide aerodrome (ADI) and/or radar approach (APS) control at Norwich Airport in accordance with Manual of Air Traffic Services Parts 1 (CAP 493) and 2, UK Regulation (EU) 2017/373 ‘The ATM/ANS IR’, the Aerodrome Manual and our Safety Management System
  • To provide aerodrome control
  • To provide radar approach control
  • To provide flight information services
  • To formulate and ensure despatch of METARs
  • To ensure that information is processed and disseminated to relevant departments (both internal and external) however received
  • Meteorological information
  • Flight plan information
  • NOTAMS
  • SNOWTAMS
  • Any general information relevant to the safe and efficient operation of the ATC department and the Airport’s organisations
  • To provide supervision of the Air Traffic Control Assistants
  • To undertake any other task commensurate with the responsibilities and level of this post as reasonably requested

Requirements

  • A current Air Traffic Controller’s Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, containing a current medical certificate (CAA Class 3) and the following valid ratings: Aerodrome Control Instrument (ADI)
  • Approach Control Surveillance (APS)
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency Certificate at Level 5 or higher
  • Be able to obtain a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check
  • Provision of employment history and references for previous 5 years

Nice to have

  • Experience of working in a complex visual circuit and local area, integrating visual and radar traffic
  • control of vehicular traffic on the airfield and monitoring maintenance and engineering teams on the airfield
  • Preferably 2 years minimum experience as a valid radar and/or tower controller, experience of working in Class D and Class G airspace preferred
  • Previous experience as an OJTI is desirable, but not essential
  • A current Certificate of Competence in Meteorological Observing
  • Supervisory/managerial experience within an ATC environment is also desirable

  • Inspects, accepts documentation (DD Form 1149/1348-1), prepares and processes all outbound/inbound cargo offered for transportation in the Defense Transportation System (DTS)
  • Checks for completeness and accuracy. Verifies the Nomenclatures, Quantity, Transportation Control Numbers (TCN), Transportation Account Code (TAC), Consignor and Consignee Codes, Hazardous/Classified materials, ITARS certifications and other essential transportation data
  • Properly classified freight, selects commodity codes, selects the most efficient mode of shipment and controls obligations for government transportation funds
  • Prepares all required shipping documents for data input to CMOS/GATES, assigns Transportation Control Numbers, produces labels, issues truck manifest for general/hazardous cargo and Maintains Manifest logs
  • Uses automated computer systems to process and document to accurately input the Transportation Control Numbers, Transportation Accounting Codes, consignor and consignee codes and other essential transportation data into CMOS, GATES or IBS
  • Inspects Hazardous Materials to ensure proper packaging, marking, labeling, documentation and certification in accordance with applicable Dangerous Goods Regulations (AFMAN 24-604, 49 Code of Federal Regulation, International Air Transport Association (IATA) and International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG)
  • Inspects, accepts and inventories all incoming freight and containers for overages, shortages and damage before acceptance. When required, initiate and complete DD Form 361, Transportation Discrepancy Report (TDR)
  • Provides asset visibility and real-time view to track customer queries using IGC, RFID-ITV, GDSS2 or SMS
  • Prepares shipping documents and Movement Requests for international and domestic shipments between sites and container movements from the Sea Port of Embarkation (POE) to the Sea Port of Debarkation (POD) shipped by surface or sealift
  • Performs Port Handling and Inland Transportation (PHIT) and ensures the subcontractor performs all duties and responsibilities according to the Statement of Work (SOW). Inspects and documents each shipment for contract compliance on a Customer Service Survey form
