Job Description

Applied Innovation for Actives in the Americas focuses on global development activities for collagens and proteins while managing strategic topics within the global innovation pipeline. The role drives the development of new products and strengthens the existing portfolio through applied technology innovations, while also supporting customers during launch and post-launch and delivering outcomes from cocreation projects. It involves continuously monitoring the technical value, market relevance, and consumer trends for the collagen and protein portfolio, identifying new technologies, and capturing brand needs from customers. Direct business support is provided through organizing and participating in technical promotion for new launches, generating new data aligned with market needs, and working with Marketing to prepare and launch technology-driven concepts for targeted brands. The position collaborates closely with Business Development, Account Managers, and Applied Technology teams regionally and globally, and coordinates external studies with the Evonik Skin Institute and its network of research laboratories and dermatologists.

Job Responsibility

  • Global development projects Collagens and Proteins: Management of the innovation process and overall responsibility for new product developments and new data generation for the existing portfolio according to market and customer needs
  • Customer cocreation in the areas of Collagen and Proteins: System solution development or technologically improvement from the existing portfolio, cocreation of new solutions, specifically towards brands’ needs at our customers, jointly development with customers when applicable, exclusively if needed and justified by business case. In the long term, developing technological capabilities and platforms for cocreation with customers
  • Technology Monitoring: For the sustainability of business growth, capturing new technological targets for the future business potentials. Conduct innovation, technology and trend analyses. Develop tools to frequently observe new products and technologies and customers behaviors and implement such into innovation processes together with marketing team
  • Customer intimacy: Technical support to customer through the preview phase, launch phase and post launch, reflect collected insights into global development and provide technical solutions to technical inquiries from the customers and market in general

Requirements

  • Successfully completed degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related personal care field
  • Several years of experience in R&D or innovation within personal care and/or cosmetics
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities in an international, intercultural environment
  • Results-oriented mindset with an entrepreneurial approach
  • Willingness to travel, including internationally (approx. 20%)
