PolyAI automates customer service through lifelike voice assistants that let customers lead a conversation. Our voice assistants make it possible for businesses to deliver outstanding customer service that rivals their human agents. Our customers, which include the world’s leading logos, are expanding how they use our platform, driving automation of critical customer service operations and integrating PolyAI into their daily customer service workflows. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and build seamless integrations that power these voice experiences. You’ll design and implement solutions that connect our platform with third party systems, in industries such as healthcare and hospitality, where data integration and reliability are key. You’ll work across customer and partner projects, integrating with CRMs, workflow platforms, CCaaS platforms, and other sources of context for AI agents (such as Salesforce, Zendesk, Epic, and OpenTable) to enable non-technical stakeholders to harness AI automation effortlessly. This role sits within the engineering team while working closely with our Strategic Alliances group to deepen PolyAI’s commercial and technical relationships with a fast-growing ecosystem of partners. The mission: bring integrations to life to enhance context for AI agents so that both customers and end users experience tangible value.
Job Responsibility:
Build and maintain integrations between PolyAI and third party systems (Salesforce, Zendesk, OpenTable, Epic, ServiceNow, and others) using our low-code platform and custom Python services
Design, deploy, and maintain RESTful APIs and webhooks to support secure, real-time data exchange across voice, CRM, and vertical platforms. Work with our dialogue designers to make sure AI agents leverage context from these APIs in a fluent manner
Work directly with solution architects and product teams at customer and partner organizations to translate requirements into scalable, production-ready integrations
Collaborate within a diverse engineering team to ensure maintainability, performance, and smooth rollout of new features
Lead exploratory work with emerging AI-native tools (vector databases, retrieval APIs, conversational analytics) to extend PolyAI’s integration capabilities
Continuously identify opportunities to improve automation and interoperability across healthcare and hospitality workflows
Requirements:
2+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python
Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining RESTful APIs
Proven experience with third-party integrations - particularly in healthcare (EHRs, FHIR/HL7 APIs, HIPAA-compliant systems) or hospitality (POS, booking, CRM, or reservation platforms such as OpenTable or SevenRooms) or FSI (banking and payment APIs like Plaid or Truelayer, KYC/AML systems such as Onfido, or core platforms like Temenos or Salesforce Financial Services Cloud)
Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with customers and partners
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Nice to have:
Experience integrating with healthcare data platforms (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, Redox, etc.) or hospitality systems (Oracle Hospitality, SevenRooms, Toast, etc.)
Exposure to AI or conversational systems: LLMs, chatbots, or voice automation
Familiarity with one or more cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Working knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript
Understanding of Agile methodologies
A curiosity for new technologies and a passion for solving complex integration challenges
Experience working with sales teams is a plus
