Job Description:

You will report to the Senior Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs (PPGA) and play a central role in implementing programs and strategies to strengthen PepsiCo’s federal and state policy standing. This includes advancing the company’s Public Policy and Government Affairs objectives in artificial intelligence and technology policies. A key focus of the role will be monitoring and informing the PPGA and PepsiCo senior leadership teams on a wide range of developments—particularly around artificial intelligence regulation at the state, federal, and international levels. In addition, you will serve as PepsiCo’s internal subject matter expert on regulatory developments in AI, while working closely with the Strategy and Transformation team and other internal teams to create advocacy collateral, engage senior level executives and ensure consistency with enterprise strategy. Externally, you will represent the company with policymakers, trade associations, and industry stakeholders, articulating PepsiCo’s positions and maintaining strong, positive working relationships. You will also work closely with the international, federal, and state PPGA teams, as well as the Global Public Policy team and broader Corporate Affairs function, to ensure strategic alignment across the business.

Job Responsibility:

  • Monitor, prioritize, and advise on public policy developments impacting PepsiCo, ensuring senior leadership is informed and prepared
  • Develop and implement, with the Senior Director, comprehensive advocacy strategies and campaigns on artificial intelligence and technology related policies
  • Lead planning and staffing of senior level executives for AI advocacy and thought leadership initiatives in DC
  • Represent PepsiCo externally on priority issues before policymakers, trade associations, and key stakeholders
  • Build and maintain a strong network of relationships with lawmakers, staff, industry representatives, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate with internal teams—including strategy and transformation, legal and communications—to align policy strategies with business objectives
  • Carry out strategies and actions with the highest level of integrity and ethics

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years in government affairs, public policy, or corporate public
  • Experience with the varied US public policy processes at the state and federal levels, and familiarity with international regulatory issues related to artificial intelligence
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate with internal and external audiences
  • Highly proactive and able to navigate ambiguity and complexity while developing successful solutions
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to thrive within a rapidly changing environment

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, International Relations, or Technology Policy
  • Direct experience engaging with regulators, policymakers, and industry associations
  • Proven track record in advocacy, lobbying, or shaping legislation related to technology
  • Works well under pressure with an ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to focus both on detail and the larger picture
  • Exhibits a high level of critical/strategic thinking. Recalibrates strategies in response to evolving political and policy landscape
  • High degree of professionalism and confidence interacting with senior leaders and policymakers
  • Familiarity with AI standards, ethics, and risk management frameworks
What we offer:
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 25% of annual salary paid out annually and an additional target payout of 10% of annual salary is paid out over 3 years following the end of the performance period
  • Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Health, and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Insurance (Accident, Group Legal, Life), Defined Contribution Retirement Plan
