The AI Governance Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s artificial intelligence governance framework. This role ensures AI systems are designed, deployed, and managed in a secure, ethical, compliant, and business-aligned manner. The AI Governance Manager partners with IT, Security, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Data, and business stakeholders to create policies, assess risks, and oversee responsible AI practices across the enterprise.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain enterprise-wide AI governance policies, standards, and procedures
Establish frameworks for responsible AI, including fairness, transparency, explainability, accountability, and human oversight
Lead AI risk assessments and evaluate models for regulatory, operational, reputational, and cybersecurity risks
Create and manage AI inventory, model documentation, approval workflows, and lifecycle governance processes
Partner with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Information Security teams to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal policies
Monitor emerging AI-related regulations, standards, and industry best practices
Oversee third-party AI vendor assessments, including due diligence, data handling, model risk, and contractual requirements
Develop controls for data privacy, intellectual property protection, data retention, and acceptable use of generative AI tools
Coordinate governance reviews for new AI initiatives, including approval, escalation, and remediation processes
Design and deliver training programs on AI governance, responsible AI, and acceptable use policies
Prepare executive-level reporting and dashboards on AI usage, compliance status, key risks, and remediation activities
Support internal and external audits related to AI governance, model risk, privacy, and compliance
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business, Risk Management, or related field
5+ years of experience in AI governance, IT governance, risk management, compliance, cybersecurity, data governance, or related disciplines
Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, generative AI, model lifecycle management, and associated risks
Experience developing governance frameworks, policies, controls, and operating procedures
Knowledge of regulatory and governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2, and model risk management practices
Experience working with cross-functional teams including Legal, Security, Compliance, HR, and business leaders
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to executives and technical teams
Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritize risk, and drive governance adoption across the organization
