We are seeking a driven Fruit & Vegetable Agronomist to join our dynamic Commercial team as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for our fresh produce portfolio. Based at the Brisbane Regional Distribution Centre, you will act as a vital field specialist, driving upstream improvements across regions, varieties, and farming practices to ensure peak quality and volume availability. This cross-functional role collaborates closely with Technical, Commercial, and Operations teams to bridge the gap between the farm and the shelf.
Job Responsibility
Develop and lead quality and availability strategies to ensure all categories meet performance targets
Act as the on-farm expert for pre-harvest agronomy and post-harvest management
Ensure all inbound produce meets strict safety, legality, and brand specifications
Manage supplier sampling and testing to guarantee product freshness and functionality on the shelf
Partner with Buying, Product Development, and Operations to align technical insights with commercial goals
Drive a high-performance quality culture across the supply base to improve production standards
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Horticulture, Agronomy, Food Science (preferred)
Experience (direct and hands-on) in Fruit and Vegetables, working within production or post-harvest packing environments in an agronomic or quality management capacity
A broad, practical knowledge of major Fruit and Vegetables products and their production methods
An understanding of the Australian and New Zealand agricultural and food regulatory environment
Experience in applying food safety and regulatory compliance protocols and systems
A true passion and genuine interest in food and Fresh Produce
