Kansas Forest Service is hiring a full-time Agricultural Technician II to be a part of our Tech Team. The Tech Team implements forestry and fire-related tasks around Kansas under the direct supervision of the Tech Team Lead. Training, guidance, and equipment is provided for each of these tasks. All assigned projects will work to implement the most recent iteration of the Kansas Forest Action Plan.
Job Responsibility:
Implement forestry-related tasks throughout the State of Kansas
Collect urban tree inventories
Identify and monitor forest health threats
Remove invasive species
Measure and mark timber stands enrolled in conservation programs
Conduct wildland fire management
Improve wildlife habitat
Collect viable seed
Help with seasonal tree sale packing
Assist with KFS grounds and Arboretum maintenance tasks (pruning, watering, weeding, brush disposal, etc.)
Requirements:
Requires one year of relevant experience
GED or High School Diploma
Valid driver's license
Nice to have:
Undergraduate degree in Forestry or a closely related natural resource discipline
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience using and maintaining tools and equipment (chainsaws, drip torches, pole saws, pruners, backpack sprayers, and ladders)
Experience following safety protocols and maintaining accurate records of work performed
Experience working in natural resource management, conservation, or land stewardship programs
Experience working outdoors in variable weather conditions and remote locations
