This role is vital for ensuring timely reimbursement and maintaining acceptable accounts receivable metrics by managing outstanding charges owed by third-party payers. The ideal candidate will be skilled in accounts receivable processes and committed to promoting financial health while providing guidance and support to entry-level staff.
Job Responsibility:
Assist patients in applying for financial programs, including sliding scale options, and ensure their eligibility by updating relevant information in the system
Help individuals and families access benefits such as Medicaid and enroll in programs that support their needs
Provide patients with access to WA Apple Health Behavioral Health Services Booklet and other relevant resources
Prepare accurate treatment cost estimates and payment agreements, documenting all details in the system
Monitor and manage daily accounts receivable follow-up reports for accounts over 90 days, ensuring compliance with productivity standards
Identify trends in denials or reimbursement issues and escalate potential concerns to supervisory staff
Maintain clear communication with payer representatives to address large-scale denial or reimbursement concerns
Investigate insurance remittance advices, resolve denial reasons, and draft well-structured appeals to ensure proper resolution
Support and train entry-level team members in billing practices and account resolution techniques
Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounts receivable processes and improve efficiency
Requirements:
Proven experience in accounts receivable, billing, and collections processes
Familiarity with Medicaid and other government-funded programs
Strong analytical skills for identifying trends in payer denials and resolving reimbursement issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and payer representatives
Proficiency in preparing cost estimates, payment agreements, and appeals documentation
Ability to manage detailed reports and maintain productivity standards
Knowledge of behavioral health services and associated resources
Demonstrated ability to train and mentor less experienced staff effectively
