Job Description:

The Affordable Housing Underwriter - Senior Vice President is a strategic professional role responsible for managing credit underwriting processes, financial analysis, collateral analysis, and compliance. The position involves heavy collaboration with internal teams and external clients, site visits, and travel. It requires extensive experience in financial institution roles, advanced analytical skills, and knowledge of accounting and credit policies. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication and organizational abilities while ensuring high standards of risk management and ethical practices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist bankers and underwriters in underwriting requests for credit extensions for new and existing clients
  • perform detailed financial analysis on companies, including trend and ratio analysis, and interpret the financial information
  • perform collateral analysis on accounts receivable, inventory, machinery and equipment, and real estate
  • prepare monthly and/or quarterly reviews of existing borrowers
  • build a solid understanding of Citibank products and services within Commercial Banking
  • coordinate with bankers on customer calls and site visits
  • perform industry and geographical research and other due diligence as needed
  • be familiar with Citibank credit policies and practices and regulatory policies
  • provide training for less experienced credit officers
  • provide backup to the team manager in workflow distribution and monitoring
  • recommend changes to process to achieve greater efficiency
  • provide pricing and structuring guidance to facilitate Agency production volume
  • act as the day-to-day liaison between CCC and the Agencies for its originations
  • manage communications among internal and external participants
  • oversee the creation of written and oral work products to test the financial feasibility and credit worthiness of loans
  • monitor the review of real estate and borrower due diligence
  • travel to markets throughout the United States for site inspections and client meetings

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in similar roles
  • progressive working experience in a financial institution with additional experience in a loan officer or underwriting role
  • advanced analytical skills including the ability to read and assess company financial statements, cash flow, industry and competitive analysis and projections
  • demonstrated knowledge of intermediate accounting theory and its practical application in the credit underwriting process
  • excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • effective written and verbal communication skills
  • problem recognition and resolution skills
  • ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • proficient in various spreadsheet and word processing applications, including Excel, Word, and Moody's financial analysis software
