A vacancy has arisen within Admiral Money for an Affordability Lead within the Credit Risk team. The Affordability Lead is responsible for developing, owning, and optimising the organisation’s affordability strategies and frameworks across unsecured loans, car finance, and homeowner loan products. The role ensures that affordability assessments are accurate, fair, compliant, and aligned with regulatory expectations while supporting responsible growth and delivering good customer outcomes.
Job Responsibility:
Managing the affordability strategy for all Admiral Money products (UPL, Car Finance & Homeowner Loans)
Understanding and optimising the income verification process by balancing risk and automation
Monitoring customer outcomes and arrears performance and continually looking for areas of improvement
Ensuring data is utilised in an optimal way to benefit customer and broker journeys
Reviewing the underwriting strategy and constantly looking for areas of improvement
Exploring new products and data services that would improve the affordability accuracy and automation capabilities
Monitor economic developments to ensure we’re considering potential impacts to our customers
Ensure all affordability frameworks meet FCA requirements, Consumer Duty obligations, creditworthiness rules, and product-specific regulations
Provide expertise in regulatory reviews and audits
Requirements:
At least three years’ experience within a credit risk environment (or similar)
Experience working on an affordability strategy in a lending business
Proficiency in extracting and analysing data (e.g., SQL, Python, etc.)
Attention to detail with an analytical and problem‑solving mindset
Confidence to challenge existing work practices to support continuous improvement
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels
A strong focus on quality, receptive to feedback and effective at giving feedback
Experience writing proposals and strategy documents
Nice to have:
Exposure to developing or optimising income verification processes
Experience monitoring customer outcomes and arrears performance
Understanding of underwriting strategy and areas for optimisation
Experience exploring new data sources or products to improve affordability accuracy and automation
Familiarity with economic trend analysis and assessing customer impact
Knowledge of FCA requirements, Consumer Duty, creditworthiness rules and other lending‑specific regulation
Experience supporting or participating in regulatory reviews or audits
