Job Description

PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team in Avon! As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that products manufactured at the PPG Avon facility meet customers' requirements for conformity, continuously support products and processes, and foster customer satisfaction. You will proactively identify quality, product, process, and production issues for improvement and corrective/preventative actions to ensure zero impact on the customer. In this role you will be working out of our Avon, MA facility and report to the Quality Manager.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain companywide compliance with quality systems, ISO 9001 and AS9100
  • Facilitate process improvement through use of problem-solving methods
  • Perform process validations and maintain validation procedures that conform to General Manufacturing Processes and ISO requirements
  • Create and implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment
  • Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are achieved and maintained
  • Ensure all products or services meet the established standards of quality including reliability, usability and performance required for distribution and the market
  • Interacting regularly with Engineering, Production, Lean, and Supply Chain groups to resolve and prevent product issues and quality escapes
  • Develop corrective actions, solutions, and improvements
  • Generate quality metrics and reports as needed to support business performance
  • Participate in New Product & Process Introduction projects
  • Perform First Article Inspections on PPG products in accordance with AS9102
  • Participating in analyzing rejected or returned products for conformance to specifications and associated corrective actions when required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required
  • 3+ years of quality engineering-related experience within a manufacturing environment required, preferably within an aerospace / automotive company
  • Familiarity working within an AS9100 compliant QMS and thorough understanding of AS9102 preferred
  • Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) preferred
  • Availability for occasional (20% or less) travel to suppliers and customers if needed
  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply. Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain secret clearance.

  • Familiarity working within an AS9100 compliant QMS and thorough understanding of AS9102
