If yes, then this is an excellent opportunity to utilize your strong mathematical and programming skills to perform launch vehicle Thermal / Propulsion analyses in support of National Security Space (NSS) missions for the U.S. Government. Join a team of highly skilled Fluids & Thermal analysts (rocket scientists!) performing Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V) tasks for classified payloads launching on ULA Vulcan, SpaceX Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, and other launch vehicles, potentially including Blue Origin New Glenn and small launch vehicles, and perhaps one day the SpaceX Starship launch vehicle.
Job Responsibility:
Develop models and perform integrated thermal, payload fairing aeroheating, and propellant tank/feedlines fluids/thermal IV&V analyses for the Launch Vehicle missions using in-house or/and industry-standard commercial simulation codes.
Interface with Launch Service Provider (LSP) personnel and resolve related technical issues in support of mission integration activities.
Participate in related LSP technical reviews and support discipline analysis working group meetings.
Document and present responsible IV&V activities and analyses.
Provide technical support to the management as requested.
Requirements:
Requires 5 to 7 years with BS, 3 to 5 years with MS, or 0 to 2 years with Ph.D.
Ability to Obtain and Maintain a Secret clearance
Strong technical understanding in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass/heat transfer.
Excellent capability in model development, computer programming and simulation, and data analysis.
Working experience in industry-standard commercial simulation codes such as Thermal Desktop, Sinda-Fluint, and ANSYS-CFD is particularly interested.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Familiar with Fortran, Autocad, and Matlab.
Candidates must be US citizens
