The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking an Aeronautics Analyst to support the Aeronautics Division in maintaining the safety, functionality, and long-term development of Wyoming’s publicly owned airports. This position assists engineering staff with airport planning, project coordination, and program administration, ensuring infrastructure meets state and federal standards while supporting future aviation needs. The Aeronautics Analyst also plays a key role in monitoring projects, maintaining accurate records, coordinating with airport sponsors and stakeholders, and helping ensure the proper and efficient use of public funds across Wyoming’s aviation system.
Job Responsibility:
Support the Aeronautics Division in maintaining the safety, functionality, and long-term development of Wyoming’s publicly owned airports
Assist engineering staff with airport planning, project coordination, and program administration
Ensure infrastructure meets state and federal standards while supporting future aviation needs
Monitor projects, maintain accurate records, coordinate with airport sponsors and stakeholders
Help ensure the proper and efficient use of public funds across Wyoming’s aviation system
Travel for completion of annual safety inspections at airports, various meetings, and events (approximately 25% of time)
Utilize highly technical programs such as CADD, BlackCat Aviation, ADIP, and other agency specific reporting programs
Perform safety inspections requiring basic survey, geometry and mathematics
Make budgetary recommendations and provide research in their area of expertise
Provide work direction and guidance to other aeronautics program employees
Assist in the development of policy
Plan and conduct meetings
Project and grant management
May have authority to make purchases
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups)
0-3 years of progressive work experience in (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Staff Technician II OR 4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Transportation Occupational Groups) with acquired knowledge at the level of a(n) Staff Technician II
Nice to have:
Preference may be given to candidates with an academic specialization in fields such as mathematics, engineering, or surveying. Relevant secondary education supporting these areas is beneficial.
