Randstad is proud to partner with a leading government organisation seeking a proactive Media and Government Relations Advisor for a 6-month contract to support external communication and engagement activities. Reporting to the Team Leader of Government Relations and Media, you will play a key role in protecting and enhancing the organisation’s reputation. You will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and effective communication materials across both media and government channels.

Job Responsibility:

  • Media Management: Assist with media monitoring, reporting, and the coordination of media activities
  • Content Development: Draft and edit high-quality content for media, social media, and other corporate channels in line with brand standards
  • Government Relations: Prepare correspondence, briefing materials, and responses to Ministerial and MP enquiries
  • Crisis & Reputation: Apply critical and strategic thinking to all communications and emerging issues to support organisational priorities
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong records and liaise with Ministers’ offices and government departments regarding media and event opportunities

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a media, communications, or similar role is essential
  • Demonstrated experience working within or closely with a government agency
  • Strong understanding of media management, social media, and corporate communication principles
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking to sensitive communication issues and manage multiple tight deadlines
  • Exceptional drafting skills with the ability to create clear, accurate content for diverse audiences
  • A degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline is highly desirable
