Job Responsibility:

  • Monitor developments as they relate to files of importance to Bombardier's political and strategic objectives
  • Provide timely information and prepare briefing documents and presentations ahead of important meetings and events
  • Research on public policy, particularly respecting government industrial, innovation and economic development policies and parliamentary debates on these subjects
  • Ensure that developments pertaining to important files such as the domestic political environment or the policy framework that governs manufacturing, trade, skills, innovation, defense procurement and aviation are communicated in a timely manner to key actors in the company
  • Conduct internal consultations on public policy issues of interest to the corporation, including the impact of free-trade agreements, and innovation, procurement, exportation, skills and manufacturing policies on Bombardier's activities
  • Formulate positions vis-à-vis these issues
  • Provide liaison services to Bombardier units in their relations with federal, provincial and foreign governments both at the public service and the political level
  • Keep an expanding log of key files and contacts to be updated and monitored
  • Develop, recommend and implement strategies to expand the company's reach and visibility with government, parliamentary and industry stakeholders
  • Develop, recommend and implement advocacy strategies and tactics to address policy and regulatory issues impacting Bombardier and our sector

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in Parliamentary Affairs, Government
  • Bachelor's degree in public affairs or a related discipline
  • Knowledge in Affairs, Public Affairs or International Affairs/Trade
  • Excellent communication skills, English and French (both spoken and written)
  • Familiar with the senior levels of Government and related institutions
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook software in a Windows environment
