Job Description:

This is a temporary position for 9 months with possibility of extension. Our Total Rewards team provides extensive counseling and develops a variety of programs to support the mental, physical and financial health of employees. Reporting to the Benefits Manager, the Disability Management Advisor will work closely with the benefits team, HR business partners, managers and employees.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure good governance and monitoring of disability files by proactively managing them in order to facilitate the reintegration of the employee into the workplace
  • Participate in file follow-up meetings with the insurer and jointly oversee the proper management of disability files by implementing best practices
  • Act as a resource person and expert in the management of disability files in order to provide technical expertise to help resolve problematic situations
  • Act as an advisor to managers and HR business partners in the management of sickness and disability cases
  • Communicate periodically with the manager and the employee to effectively address the issues limiting any impact on the return to work
  • Conducts return to work meetings and ensures that necessary accommodations are in place
  • Develop all relevant training and communication for the various stakeholders
  • Understand and analyze trends and the main causes of absences within the organization in order to propose actions to promote continuous improvement opportunities and attendance
  • Collaborate in the implementation and development of the overall health program
  • Manage internal administrative requirements to ensure employees have the right status in Workday (short-term disability, long-term disability, progressive return to work, etc.) and the dates of their absence are accurate

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of disability management
  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Human Resource Management or any other field deemed relevant
  • Excellent organizational and priority management skills, allowing the handling of multiple files simultaneously with rigor, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Strong communication skills and bilingualism in English and French both verbal and written as you will need to collaborate frequently with colleagues across Canada
