Job Responsibility

Systems definition for Avionics Domain and development of Centralized and Recording Systems, including: Operational requirements analysis and avionics systems architecture definition
Specification of functional and equipment requirements for avionics systems
Generation and maintenance of the design documentation (e.g. interface control documents, requirements documents, test protocols, etc.)
Generation of avionics systems specifications
Equipment engineering tasks (manufacturer monitoring, qualification monitoring, etc.)
Integration, validation and verification tasks of avionics systems
Contribution to Safety and Security analysis, Certification and Qualification processes
Support to Services
Identify the activities of the development life cycle that are necessary to develop a system/product and provide the level of confidence which is consistent with regulation and program requirements
Define checkpoints and reviews with associated maturity expectation aligned with program phases and gates

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
10 + years of aerospace flight test experience, with significant focus on experimental or developmental aircraft programs
Demonstrated success managing first-flight and experimental test programs for prototype aircraft
Deep knowledge of flight sciences, test instrumentation, telemetry, and data analysis specific to experimental testing
Expertise in FAA Part 21, Part 23/25, Part 27/29, or equivalent experimental certification processes
Proven leadership of multidisciplinary test teams in high-risk experimental environments
Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to brief both technical teams and executive stakeholders

Job Responsibility

Lead all experimental and prototype flight test activities, from concept through certification
Develop and execute test strategies for first flights, envelope expansion, systems validation, and performance testing
Oversee creation of flight test plans, safety risk assessments, hazard analyses, and flight readiness reviews
Partner closely with engineering teams to validate new designs, avionics, autonomy, propulsion, and control systems under test
Direct the work of test pilots, flight test engineers, instrumentation specialists, and ground crews during experimental campaigns
Ensure adherence to FAA/EASA/DoD experimental test standards and experimental certificate requirements
Manage relationships with regulatory authorities, DERs, and other stakeholders to align test programs with certification objectives
Provide leadership in accident/incident prevention, emergency response planning, and operational risk management
Present technical and program-level updates to senior leadership, partners, and certification bodies
Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and technical excellence within the test organization

Requirements

BS in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering and 5+ years technical work experience
Advanced modeling experience with tools such as SolidWorks, Catia, OnShape, Fusion, or Creo
Proven experience with rapid design cycles: taking a design from concept through detailed design, build, and test
Experience leading activities such as mechanism design, controls design and analysis, environmental analysis (thermal, vibration, airflow), and structural analysis
Outstanding organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

Job Responsibility

Design, integrate, and test avionics and control components for aircraft and test labs
Oversee design and analysis tasks for system integration including stress and model analyses
Provide CAD work in support of design activities, including application of industry best-practices for GD&T
Support and participate in testing activities – component, system development, and system certification – as needed including test plan creation, data analysis, and test report generation and documentation
Prepare and coordinate mechanical design and fabrication drawings and related documents
This position may require up to 25-50% travel, sometimes with short notice, to both domestic and international locations to support aircraft and system integration and testing
