We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Assembly Technician to join our workshop team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). In this role, you will be responsible for the precision assembly of complex, high-value components and systems, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge manufacturing projects. You will play a key part in developing innovative technologies by applying advanced assembly techniques in a collaborative and technically challenging environment.
Job Responsibility:
Perform high-precision assembly of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
Interpret and follow detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Ensure all work meets strict quality and performance standards
Operate advanced assembly tools and specialised equipment
Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and checks to ensure optimal performance
Identify, diagnose, and resolve assembly issues
Implement corrective actions to maintain product integrity and quality
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Work closely with engineers, designers, and fellow technicians
Contribute to solving complex technical challenges and improving assembly processes
Provide feedback on designs to enhance manufacturability
Maintain accurate records of assembly processes and testing outcomes
Update documentation and work instructions in line with process improvements
Adhere to all health and safety standards and procedures
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices
Mentor junior technicians and apprentices
Support knowledge sharing and team capability development
Stay up to date with new technologies and assembly methods
Requirements:
Proven experience in an advanced or precision assembly role
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions
Experience working with electrical and/or electronic components
Manual machining capability
Strong hands-on experience with assembly tools and equipment
Excellent problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Nice to have:
Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
Relevant certifications in advanced assembly or related disciplines
