We are looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Advanced Public Health Analyst to join our Public Health Intelligence team. This is a key role supporting Peterborough City Council and wider system partners to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes across our population. You'll use your expertise in epidemiology, statistics and population health to shape decision‑making across the local system. Your work will span everything from analysing complex health and care data, to leading the analytical input into Joint Strategic Needs Assessments, to identifying and understanding health inequalities across our communities.
Job Responsibility:
Work collaboratively with intelligence colleagues in Peterborough City Council, locally and regionally, to provide population health intelligence to influence and support wider system approaches to improving health and wellbeing outcomes
Think innovatively and creatively to promote and deliver an epidemiological and population approach that influences the local system to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities
Contribute to population health management using data on both health and wider determinants of health
Monitor and describe the health status of the local population through the analysis, interpretation and presentation of a range of information from multiple sources
Support the council's statutory public health responsibilities by providing high‑quality analytical expertise that helps protect and improve the health of Peterborough's residents, including identifying and addressing health inequalities
Requirements:
A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) such as public health, epidemiology, informatics, statistics or information science
Experience of applying statistical, analytical and epidemiological skills—ideally in a public health context
Strong judgement in selecting appropriate analytical methods and interpreting complex information
Experience of using analytical tools such as R, Python, SQL and Power BI
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings clearly and persuasively
The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and proactive approach
Experience of partnership working across health, local government or related sectors
