This is a pivotal role designed for a practitioner who leads by example, combining complex frontline practice with the mentoring and development of colleagues. Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Advanced Practitioner to join their Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team.
Job Responsibility:
Managing a reduced but high-complexity caseload involving children with profound disabilities and complex family needs
Providing expert clinical guidance and support to less experienced Social Workers and students within the team
Assisting the Team Manager in ensuring high standards of assessment, planning, and intervention across the service
Leading on complex safeguarding cases and representing the authority in high-level multi-agency forums
Ensuring all work meets the requirements of the Children Act and relevant SEND legislation
Requirements:
Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)
Substantial post-qualifying experience within Children's Services, specifically with children with disabilities and complex health needs
Proven ability to support and mentor peers, with strong decision-making capabilities
Deep understanding of safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, and the SEND Code of Practice
