Job Description

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Advanced Practitioner - Children's Social Care to join Gateshead Council on a full-time agency contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker looking to take on a rewarding role supporting children in care, leading complex casework, and delivering high-quality interventions that achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a complex caseload of children in care, completing skilled assessments and delivering purposeful interventions
  • Develop, implement and review evidence-based care and pathway plans that promote the best outcomes for children and young people
  • Ensure children, young people and their families are fully involved in assessment, planning and review processes
  • Promote educational achievement, health, wellbeing and positive life outcomes for children in care
  • Deliver intensive support to children, young people and families while promoting safeguarding and stability
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including schools, family hubs, health professionals and specialist services
  • Produce accurate, timely and high-quality case recordings, assessments and reports
  • Support continuous service improvement and maintain excellent professional standards through supervision, training and ongoing development

Requirements

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle (or suitable alternative means of travel)
  • Experience working within statutory Children's Social Care services
  • Experience working with looked after children, safeguarding and complex family interventions
  • Strong assessment, analytical and report writing skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Nice to have

  • Minimum of two years' post-qualified experience or successful completion of ASYE with clear evidence of professional progression
  • Level 7 Post Qualifying Social Work Award or equivalent postgraduate qualification
  • Experience undertaking complex assessments, risk management and intervention planning
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989, Children and Families Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act and associated statutory guidance
  • Understanding of relationship-focused and solution-focused practice
