Job Description
The Advanced Practitioner plays a critical role in delivering high-quality frontline services within Children’s Social Care at North Tyneside Council. This position combines complex casework responsibilities with practice leadership, supporting the development of less experienced social workers and promoting excellent standards across the team. You will work with children, young people, and families with the most complex needs, ensuring safe, effective, and child-centred interventions while contributing to continuous service improvement.
Job Responsibility
Manage a caseload of complex and high-risk cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions in line with statutory requirements
Undertake comprehensive assessments, care planning, and reviews to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
Provide expert guidance, mentoring, and informal supervision to social workers and support staff
Lead by example in demonstrating best practice, evidence-based decision-making, and high professional standards
Support the Team Manager in driving service improvements and embedding good practice across the team
Contribute to audits, quality assurance processes, and practice development initiatives
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated and effective support for children and families
Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality recording in line with organisational and regulatory standards
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent)
Current registration with Social Work England
Significant post-qualification experience within Children’s Social Care
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
