Job Description:

The Advanced Assembly Technician at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) will play a crucial role in the precision assembly of complex components and systems. The successful candidate will work on high-tech manufacturing projects, contributing to the development of innovative products and technologies. This position requires a deep understanding of advanced assembly techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to work with sophisticated tools and equipment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform complex and precise assembly tasks, including the integration of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation to ensure high-quality results
  • Operate advanced assembly equipment and specialized tools, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of tools to maintain optimal performance
  • Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain product integrity
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians to solve technical challenges and optimize assembly processes
  • Provide feedback on design and assembly processes to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, test results, and any deviations from standard procedures
  • Update assembly documentation and work instructions as needed to reflect process improvements or changes
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in assembly and manufacturing processes
  • Mentor and train junior technicians and apprentices, sharing expertise and promoting skill development within the team
  • Stay updated on the latest assembly technologies and techniques through ongoing training and professional development

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar assembly role
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions
  • Experience in electrical/electronics
  • Manual machining capabilities
  • Strong hands-on experience with advanced assembly tools and equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Certifications in advanced assembly techniques or related areas
