The Adult Beverage Team is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Adult Adult Beverage Field – Category Manager to support our East Front Store Merchandising organization. This position executes category priorities, navigates supplier and distributor relationships, and partners with field leadership to execute priorities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver state level sales and margin goals by growing market share and thoughtfully managing all lines of the state P&L
  • Lead and manage supplier and distributor relationships, collaborating and negotiating extensively with manufacturers and vendors to ensure brand and product strategies drive sales and profitability, as well as creating assortments and experiences that drive trust & trips with our customers
  • Execute category plans (i.e., plan optimal SKU mix
  • Extracare loyalty program
  • weekly, seasonal, annual promotional programs) for merchandising programs that reflect deep personal knowledge of our businesses, customers and client
  • Initiate and execute strategic promotional strategies and marketing plans by leading local adult beverage teams on strategic pricing and promotional programs
  • Be a strong developer of relationships- build strong, credible and trusted cross-functional relationships to ensure compliance and consistent customer experiences
  • Be an nible and influential leader – drive execution with local suppliers, local distributors, and CVS field teams
  • Influence without authority – lead external category support partners to execute category priorities, annual planograms, and programming
  • Develop and continually sustain a strong understanding of current competition as well as search out new competitive opportunities

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience working as a successful Category Manager or equivalent in a Fortune 5 company (experience in retail merchandising, management consulting, private equity, or a combination of the three, a plus)
  • 5+ years’ experience understanding and breaking down highly complex situations to deliver impactful solutions in real time
  • 5+ years’ of demonstrated successful leadership experience in a highly competitive multi-unit environment. Relevant sectors include retail, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals
  • 5+ years’ proven track record of influencing others with and without authority
  • 5+ years’ experience actively taking on issues in a decisive manner, while keeping broader organizational dynamics in mind and empowering your leaders to obtain results through building behaviors
  • 5+ years’ experience leading under pressure, adapting to changing dynamics in real time, and finding solutions that satisfy multiple ‘customers’ of the business
  • 5+ years’ experience effectively demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • very strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • 5+ years’ experience collaborating effectively across different business functions, different perspectives, and different styles of leadership
  • 5+ years’ experience demonstrated ability to lead a large organization and manage a multi-million-dollar business unit to achieve financial and business results
  • 5+ years’ experience leveraging strong analytical skills to help drive business decisions
  • 5+ years’ experience building high-performing, successful teams developing key talent preferrable in a professional retail environment. Demonstrated passion for bringing new leaders along and helping them realize their ability to impact the business
  • 8+ years of demonstrated successful leadership experience in a highly competitive multi-unit environment. Relevant
  • Must be a self-starter and require little direction
  • Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
  • Ability to think about the impact of decisions on the broader enterprise
  • Consistently demonstrates strong executive presence
  • Consistent record of exceptional customer service skills in increasing larger scopes of responsibility
  • Deep understanding of Merchandising at CVS, or in other like external business models
  • Demonstrated track record of high performance
  • Any additional tasks as required by manager or supervisor
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Travel- Ability, and willingness, to travel regularly, 30% of time, based on needs of the business

  • Experience working for a Fortune 5 company or working in retail field, or in our retail pharmacy company
  • Consulting experience preferred
  • Experience working as a strong merchant, managing a P&L strongly preferred
  • Advanced degree preferred
