Job Description:

University of the Arts London is looking for an Admissions Manager to join the team on a full time, fixed term basis for 24 months. As part of UAL’s Student Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions (SMRA) department, the post-holder will play a role in ensuring that UAL achieves a first-class prospective student experience from application through to enrolment. The post-holder will manage the work of our Pre-Degree team, and will be responsible for the delivery of a University-wide professional Home, EU, and International admissions function for Pre-Degree and Undergraduate applicants, covering the full applicant life cycle through all stages from application, offer, and conversion to enrolment. You will be expected to contribute to the overall effective service delivery, including the provision of information, advice, and guidance to applicants during the admissions process and identifying and suggesting continuous improvements to processes, systems, and communications. The post holder will also ensure that academic decision makers are supported throughout the recruitment and admissions processes. The Admissions Manager will cultivate and foster extensive and close working relationships with relevant University staff and other appropriate external stakeholders, working collaboratively to develop service expectations and effective operating models across the SMRA department. This opportunity can be considered as 24 month secondment for internal candidates.

  • Contribute to the overall effective service delivery, including the provision of information, advice, and guidance to applicants during the admissions process and identifying and suggesting continuous improvements to processes, systems, and communications
  • Ensure that academic decision makers are supported throughout the recruitment and admissions processes
  • Cultivate and foster extensive and close working relationships with relevant University staff and other appropriate external stakeholders, working collaboratively to develop service expectations and effective operating models across the SMRA department

Requirements:

  • First degree level or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience working in an admissions role or similar in Higher Education (HE) or Further Education (FE) in a large and complex organisation, with knowledge of admissions processes and policies including Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) processes, and Home Office and fee assessment regulations for Further Education (FE) and Undergraduate applicants
  • Demonstrates ability as an operational task leader setting clear standards and objectives, whilst monitoring performance in order to assess and ensure appropriate resources and support are available to enable achievement of same
  • Successfully applies and shares knowledge and experience with others, including through updating and training activities
  • Deals appropriately with demanding situations or confidential matters according to policy and procedure, referring to others where necessary and appropriate
  • Works collaboratively in a team and where appropriate across or with different professional groups
  • Plans, prioritises, and organises work to achieve short- and long-term objectives on time, with ability and experience of working independently

  • Monitor admissions KPIs, pipeline metrics, and conversion data, providing regular reporting and recommendations
  • Be part of the University Admissions Committee monitoring the implementation of the admissions requirements, decision-making and related processes
  • Support the wider group in establishing best practice operational procedures and workflows
  • Oversee and continuously improve end-to-end admissions processes — from application submission and interview scheduling to offer issuance and enrolment confirmations

  • Lead on complex or non-standard cases, including applicants from sanctioned countries or with alternative qualifications
