The Admission Counselor at the Graduate School of Social Work reports directly to the Assistant Director of Enrollment and will have first-level enrollment duties and responsibilities for all GSSW programs. The main purpose of this position is to support the recruitment and admissions efforts for the GSSW programs and be responsible for engaging with prospective students who inquire about our programs, providing them with valuable information, and guiding them through the admissions process.
Job Responsibility:
Respond to inquiries from prospective students via phone, email, and other communication channels
Initiate outbound phone calls to students who have shown interest
Build rapport with prospective students
Assist students in completing application forms
Maintain accurate records of all interactions with prospective students
Actively contribute to developing and implementing new methods of outreach
Co-lead bi-weekly online information sessions
Assist and/or lead weekly Friday campus tours
Support monthly in-person information sessions
Provide logistical and operational support for all online and in-person enrollment team events
Support research and data gathering projects related to recruitment and admissions
Understand and adhere to admissions guidelines
Participate in and aid with special projects
Collaborate with the admissions team to develop and implement strategies for student recruitment and retention
Stay informed about the institutions academic offerings, financial aid options, and admission policies
Participate in admissions events
Collect data from applicants
Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct
Travel to in-state college fairs, recruitment events, and community outreach programs
Serve as a first reader for Denver Campus and Online MSW applications
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
1 year of experience working in an office
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proofreading ability
Basic ability to manipulate data
Ability to prioritize tasks and plan projects
time management and solid organizational skills
Ability to help students, staff, faculty, and visitors in a positive and friendly manner
Teamwork approach to projects and problem solving
Ability to work with underrepresented populations such as veterans or people with disabilities
Willingness and ability to learn new technology
Proficiency working in Microsoft Excel, Word, internet searching, and email
Nice to have:
Some graduate-level coursework
2 years of administrative experience in an office
Experience working with college/university admissions
Experience working with Technolutions Slate, Ellucian Banner or other CRMs
