The Office of College Admission supports the university's mission through the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of students that will embrace the rigorous yet flexible Open Curriculum and challenge each other intellectually while fostering a community centered around kindness and questioning. The Office thinks about how an applicants’ unique talents, accomplishments, energy, curiosity, perspective and identity might weave into the ever-changing tapestry that is Brown University.

Job Responsibility

  • Recruit applicants to Brown University
  • Lead presentations to inform applicants, counselors and families about unique opportunities at Brown
  • Counsel students and families through the admission and financial aid process
  • Develop relationships with counselors in schools and Community Based Organizations
  • Read and evaluate applications and recommend admission decisions to the Board of Admission
  • Assist with travel grants
  • Assist with the Campus Visit Program and development of class lists for the Campus Visit Program
  • Develop strategy for recruitment of applications and creation of itinerary for recruiting travel
  • Additional assignments can include staffing virtual and on-campus recruitment & matriculation events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong writing, active listening and public speaking skills
  • Sensitivity to concerns of people of different ages and backgrounds
  • Willingness and ability to work both independently and with groups in a multi-tasked environment
