Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for an Attorney with a focus on administrative law, including Social Security Disability Law and health advocacy matters. Be a part of a non-profit law firm, with 140+ employees in eight offices across North Florida, that seeks legal justice and does not charge the clients for their services. Work independently and as part of a team to obtain positive results for clients with a focus on disability law such as SSDI claims and appeals and other administrative legal matters across our 16 county service area. This position could be located in any of our offices including Tallahassee, Pensacola, Panama City, Fort Walton Beach, and Quincy.
Job Responsibility
Lead the growth and development of a program focused on SSDI and other administrative law matters
work both independently and collaboratively across offices to develop consistent strategies and improve client outcomes
represent clients in administrative hearings and appeals, with an emphasis on SSDI and public benefits
build and strengthen community partnerships that improve access to disability-related legal services
serve as a resource and potential mentor to other staff attorneys handling administrative law matters
Requirements
Member of The Florida Bar in good standing
strong organizational and communication skills
comfortable interacting with clients
able to learn electronic case management systems
at least 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney (preferred)
experience with Social Security Administration (SSA) guidelines and appeals process (preferred)
experience with administrative law beyond SSDI, including Social Security (non-SSDI), Medicaid, Medicare, Reemployment Assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), etc. (preferred)
strong interest in leading program development and taking on a more strategic role within the organization (preferred)
ability to balance direct service with leadership and program coordination (preferred)
interest in mentoring others or serving as a resource to staff in administrative law-related cases (preferred)
excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills (preferred)
