Job Description

The town of Boxford is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to serve as Administrative Assistant for the Inspectional Services department. The Administrative Assistant performs a wide range of clerical, administrative, and customer service functions in support of the Inspectional Services department and the Zoning Board of Appeals when directed. Working under the supervision of the Inspector of Buildings, this position is responsible for maintaining official records, processing permits, supporting regulatory compliance, and assisting the public with inquiries related to building and zoning requirements. This is a benefits-eligible, Monday – Thursday, 34 hours per week, union position within the AFSCME Council 93, Local 939. This position is categorized as a "Grade 2" with an hourly payrate of $28.75 for fiscal year FY27 per the collective bargaining agreement.

Job Responsibility

  • Performs a wide range of clerical, administrative, and customer service functions in support of the Inspectional Services department and the Zoning Board of Appeals when directed
  • Maintaining official records, processing permits, supporting regulatory compliance, and assisting the public with inquiries related to building and zoning requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three years of administrative or general office experience
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in office software and database systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the public, staff, and officials
