Receptionist - Probation Service (Band 2) Location: Blackburn Our Client is hiring for a reputable organisation within the Probation Service, supporting community safety and offender management. We are seeking a friendly, professional Receptionist to join their team and provide vital administrative and front-of-house support. What you'll be doing: * Serving as the first point of contact for visitors, probationers, and callers, greeting them professionally face-to-face and via phone/email. * Managing visitor logs, issuing passes, and coordinating security protocols. * Handling building logistics, including mail, supplies, meeting room bookings, and event support. * Supporting security and safety procedures, acting as key holder, monitoring CCTV, and assisting with fire drills and evacuations. * Managing petty cash, travel warrants, and supporting administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and document production. * Assisting with safeguarding concerns, escalating issues appropriately, and supporting risk assessments when needed. * Providing confidential support to operational teams, maintaining sensitive records, and ensuring compliance with policies. What you'll bring: * Proven ICT skills across Microsoft Office applications. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure environments. * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. * A friendly, approachable manner with a commitment to diversity and anti-discriminatory practice. Essential skills and qualifications: * GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English. * Experience working in customer relations or a busy administrative environment. * Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Desirable skills: * Experience within criminal justice or high-pressure settings. * IT qualifications such as ECDL/CLAIT or similar. Additional info: * All candidates will undergo security and identity checks. * External candidates will be on a 6-month probation period; internal candidates may also be subject to probation if not already completed. * The role involves core hours, including evenings and weekends, based on business needs.
