This position within Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) exists to support the University mission, which is to educate men and women for worldwide leadership and service by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community. In addition, faculty members at Baylor University, LHSON have three kinds of work-related responsibilities: teaching and its related scholarly work; research and scholarly/creative activity; and service to the university, the faculty member’s professional field, and the community. The level of expectation for each faculty member in each of these areas of responsibility may differ according to a faculty member’s particular faculty category and specific assignment. Adjunct faculty are professionals with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for Baylor University students with hospitals and clinical sites. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. Each adjunct is hired to guide students and facilitate learning in the clinical setting.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise a group of 6-10 Baylor BSN students onsite in the clinical setting
Adhere to Christian principles in the classroom and the clinical/lab environment
Create a supportive learning environment conducive to attainment of clinical objectives
Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and ethics in the clinical setting
Enact best practices in nursing education
Complete all required orientation, training, and onboarding
Evaluate students written work as assigned
Hold minimum of 1 virtual office hour each week
Additional time needed for online grading, online activities associated with clinicals, and periodic faculty meetings (virtual)
Requirements:
3 years of teaching and/or Pediatrics clinical experience within the last 5 years
Unencumbered Texas RN license
Bachelors and masters degree in nursing from an accredited institution
Effective teaching, mentoring, and advising are expected of all clinical faculty
