We are seeking a talented and motivated Additive Manufacturing Research & Development Engineer to join the High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) in Coventry. The HTRC is a world-class facility at the forefront of advanced manufacturing, specialising in the design and production of high-performance turbine components. This collaborative environment brings together industry expertise and academic excellence to develop cutting-edge technologies and manufacturing solutions. This role will focus on advancing ceramic and wax-based additive manufacturing processes, supporting the development of innovative techniques used in investment casting and next-generation turbine component manufacture.
Job Responsibility
Lead and contribute to research and development activities focused on turbine component manufacturing and design improvement
Develop and optimise additive manufacturing processes for ceramic and wax applications
Define and implement robust methods of manufacture, including tooling, process parameters, and production techniques
Design and deliver experimental programmes to evaluate and enhance manufacturing capability
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design, operations, and research partners
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost performance
Provide technical expertise in manufacturing processes, equipment capability, and production methods
Support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and systems
Requirements
Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
Strong foundation in manufacturing engineering principles and component development
Demonstrable experience or knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies, ideally within ceramic or wax processes
Experience in advanced manufacturing, research, or engineering development environments
Understanding of investment casting, machining, or turbine component manufacture is advantageous
Design for Manufacture (DfM) and process optimisation
CAD/CAM and tooling or fixture development
Experimental design, process validation, and data-driven decision making
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
Project delivery, risk management, and change control
Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
