We are looking for an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join OhmSpace’s Operations team and support the in-house production and industrialisation of our propulsion systems. The role focuses on Selective Laser Melting (SLM), covering machine operation, process development, and integration of additive manufacturing within the production line. You will work closely with Manufacturing, R&D, and Quality teams to take components from qualification to flight readiness, ensuring repeatability, quality, and scalability as we grow our internal manufacturing capabilities.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and operate SLM machines for in-house production of qualification and flight components
Support the industrialisation of propulsion components from prototype to series production
Contribute to the definition and improvement of AM production workflows in collaboration with Manufacturing and Quality
Define and optimise AM process parameters to ensure repeatability and part quality
Coordinate post-processing activities with external suppliers
Apply Lean Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 principles to improve efficiency and manufacturability
Work closely with R&D to support design for additive manufacturing (DfAM)
Interface with Quality to support inspections, documentation, and non-conformance resolution
Collaborate with Integration teams during early production and qualification phases
Lead multi-stakeholder projects, aligning engineering, procurement, quality, and external suppliers toward production milestones
Develop project timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation plans
Report KPIs on industrialization progress and manufacturing readiness
Manage additive manufacturing equipment, tools, and related suppliers
Support installation, validation, and maintenance of AM equipment
Contribute to process risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
Minimum 2 years of experience in additive manufacturing, particularly SLM/PBF technology
Experience with equipment industrialisation and production processes
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Industry 4.0/5.0, and ISO 9001
Ability to perform process risk assessments and basic cost analyses
Proficiency in CAD and engineering tools
Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience managing external suppliers
Fluent in English and Italian, spoken and written
Nice to have:
Master’s degree in an Industrial Engineering discipline
Experience in space or aerospace manufacturing environments
Understanding of space industry quality and production standards
Familiarity with analysis tools such as FMEA/FMECA, 8D, Ishikawa
Knowledge of KPIs such as OEE and Vendor Rating
