We seek high-performing and committed individuals to join a well-established team of Acute Medicine Consultants within a leading healthcare provider in Northern Ireland. A dynamic multidisciplinary team supports the department and works closely with specialists in Respiratory, Diabetes, Infectious Disease, Renal Medicine, and Intensive Care to deliver high-quality care to acutely unwell patients.
Job Responsibility:
Provide expert clinical assessment and management of patients within the Acute Medicine service
Supervise and support junior medical staff, ACPs, and nursing teams during clinical sessions
Participate in providing and developing the Same Day Emergency Care and short-stay services
Engage in departmental meetings, governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives
Contribute to clinical colleagues' education and professional development, including simulation-based learning
Undertake administrative duties relating to patient care and departmental functioning
Take part in on-call and emergency support responsibilities, aligned with departmental rota
Participate in an annual appraisal and job planning process, with flexibility to accommodate special interests or roles in education, research, or leadership
Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree
Full MRCP (UK) or equivalent postgraduate medical qualification
GMC registration with a licence to practise
CCT or CESR in Acute Medicine
Applicants with a CCT/CESR in General Medicine with substantial experience in Acute Medicine at the consultant level will also be considered
Evidence of continued professional development (including CME)
Minimum of 12 years of medical experience post-qualification
At least 6 years of experience in Acute Medicine in Specialty Doctor or SAS grades
Proven ability to manage a wide range of acute medical conditions independently
Familiarity with Clinical Governance, Audit, and patient safety practices
Experience in supervising and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
Experience with multidisciplinary teamwork and service development
