Our client, a leading professional services firm, is seeking an experienced Property & Casualty (P&C) Actuary to join their Actuarial Services team on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic consulting environment, delivering high-impact actuarial and advisory services to a diverse client base including insurers, financial institutions, regulators, and third-party administrators. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing strategic actuarial guidance across areas such as solvency, economic capital, IFRS 17, risk management, pricing, and financial modelling. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to complex, high-visibility client engagements.
Job Responsibility:
Lead actuarial consulting engagements including pricing, predictive modeling, and captive feasibility analysis
Provide appointed actuary services such as liability valuation, financial condition testing, and IFRS 17 advisory
Support financial audits by identifying and assessing actuarial risks within financial statements
Analyze client data and deliver insights to determine the adequacy of actuarial liabilities
Contribute to product development, mergers & acquisitions, and restructuring initiatives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on complex client projects
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients
Participate in business development activities including proposals, pricing estimates, and client presentations
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic direction-setting
Requirements:
Qualified Actuary: Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA)
Extensive experience as a P&C Actuary within insurance or consulting environments
Strong hands-on experience in pricing and/or predictive modeling
Experience with policy liability valuation, financial condition testing, or IFRS 17 is an asset
Proficiency in actuarial/statistical tools such as Arius, R, or @Risk
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts to business stakeholders
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-based environment
Nice to have:
Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
Prior consulting or advisory experience is preferred
