Job Description

My client is looking for a Qualified (or nearly qualified) Actuary to join their Actuarial team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in modernising actuarial processes, moving from traditional spreadsheet-based approaches to scalable, automated solutions using tools such as Python and R. You’ll work across a variety of actuarial disciplines, contributing to both business-as-usual cycles and innovative, project-based work, while collaborating with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the development of Argenta’s actuarial analytics strategy
  • Lead and contribute to analytical projects, turning complex data into clear business insights
  • Collaborate with Pricing, Reserving, Capital, Risk, and Exposure Management teams
  • Drive improvements in actuarial data, systems, and workflows
  • Support the development and optimisation of the central reserving database
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Mentor and support junior actuarial analysts
  • Ensure strong governance, documentation, and validation of models and tools
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Build strong relationships across actuarial teams and the wider business

Requirements

  • Newly qualified actuary or close to qualification
  • Strong academic background
  • Experience in General Insurance and/or the London Market
  • Advanced Excel and strong report writing skills
  • Experience with Python (or similar programming language)
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Power BI or Qlik
  • Familiarity with ResQ, Hx, or Igloo
