An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Adult Low Secure Mental health ward to recruit an Activity Facilitator on the Northgate Hospital site in Morpeth. Tyne Unit is an 18 bed low-secure service for men who present with mental health conditions who either have offended or displayed offending type behaviour, and pose a significant danger to themselves or the public. Tyne Unit is recovery focused and has a multi-disciplinary team approach to treatment. We strive to provide rehabilitation and treatment for patients where discharge pathways have proven difficult. This post is an excellent opportunity for staff who are interested in facilitating the delivery of therapeutic activity within an inpatient environment alongside a strong Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitating the delivery of therapeutic activity within an inpatient environment
Supporting patients in identifying and carrying out individualised activity
Helping provide ward based activity
Taking an active role in the implementation of Talk 1st and the Safe Ward interventions
Working closely with the occupational therapy team
Working towards creating an activity-based culture on the Inpatient ward environment
Providing and coordinating a range of social, recreational and leisure activities within the ward
Undertaking designated tasks from both nursing and Occupational Therapy treatment plans
Planning, implementing, evaluating and recording a range of social, recreational and leisure activities within the ward
Requirements:
Formal qualifications eg. NVQ Level III or willing to work towards, or equivalent level of knowledge
Planning and organisational skills, excellent communication skills
Recent or current experience of working in a mental health setting
Experience that can demonstrate leadership skills and ability to self-motivate
Experience that can demonstrate skills acquired in a care setting
Knowledge of a range of leisure/creative technical activities
