YMCA Camp Potawotami has provided friendship, fun, and a character-building camping experience in a beautiful, safe environment for over 100 years. Located about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne on the shores of Blackman Lake, Camp Potawotami has over 210 acres of woodlands, meadows, wetlands, and hiking trails.
Job Responsibility:
Monitor daily camp operations to adhere to all ACA, state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations. Keep records throughout summer
Create and distribute Camp schedules for activities, shared responsibilities, staff time off, activity training, and evening programs
Organize and conduct activity training and skill verification
Coordinate equipment and inventory for activities, games, and traditions
Oversee program supervisors and ensure that activity areas operate according to Camp’s SOP or established regulations
Making sure wampum beads, achievement paddle stickers, superlatives, camper shirts, and other specialty program items are being dispersed efficiently and properly
Prepare and facilitate rainy day plans that would fill 2 days of rain/storm weather for activity area alternatives and cabins
Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have previous leadership and/or staff supervision experience
Must have experience working with youth in a camp or outdoor setting
Customer Service experience preferred
Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills
Excellent human relations skills and enthusiasm
Basic math skills and demonstrated recordkeeping proficiency
An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively
Successfully complete within 60 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/O2 Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Child Abuse Prevention training, and all other required training as specified by your supervisor
