Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounts & Tax Manager to manage a mixed non-audit portfolio, with a strong focus on clients in the media and creative industries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work alongside team leadership, client management, and workflow oversight. You will play a key role in reviewing statutory accounts and tax work, overseeing juniors, and acting as a trusted point of contact for clients and HMRC.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a mixed non-audit portfolio, predominantly within the media sector
  • Act as the main day-to-day contact for clients, providing proactive and practical advice
  • Handle and respond to HMRC queries, correspondence, and compliance matters
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring timely delivery and high service standards
  • Review year-end statutory accounts prepared under FRS 102 1A and FRS 105
  • Review corporation tax computations and CT600s
  • Oversee personal tax returns for directors and sole traders
  • Ensure VAT compliance, including review of VAT returns and advisory support where required
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly management accounts for selected clients
  • Manage workflow across your portfolio to ensure deadlines are met
  • Supervise, review, and support junior team members, providing guidance and feedback
  • Assist with training and development of junior staff
  • Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in line with firm procedures
  • Work confidently across Xero, QuickBooks Online (QBO), and Dext
  • Review bookkeeping outputs and ensure data integrity
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficient use of cloud accounting systems

Requirements

  • Strong experience in an accountancy practice, non-audit focused
  • Solid technical knowledge of IFRS, FRS 102 1A and FRS 105
  • Experience reviewing CT600s, personal tax, and VAT
  • Confident client-facing skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior staff

Nice to have

  • Experience working with media or creative industry clients
  • ACCA / ACA qualified or qualified by experience
  • Exposure to management accounts and advisory work
