Robert Half has a new direct-hire opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Supervisor in Columbia, MD. This role is responsible for overseeing the full AR cycle, with a strong emphasis on evaluating credit risk, optimizing collections strategies, and improving cash flow. The ideal candidate brings both analytical rigor and leadership capability, ensuring the team operates efficiently while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Job Responsibility:
Establish, review, and enforce customer credit policies and procedures
Evaluate creditworthiness of new and existing customers using financial data, credit reports, and payment history
Set and adjust credit limits based on risk assessment
Partner with Sales and Finance to balance revenue growth with risk mitigation
Supervise daily collections activities to ensure timely resolution of outstanding invoices
Develop and implement effective collection strategies to reduce DSO
Handle escalated collection issues and negotiate payment plans when necessary
Monitor aging reports and drive accountability for delinquent accounts
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoicing and payment posting
Maintain compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of AR specialists
Set performance goals, track KPIs, and conduct regular performance reviews
Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment
Prepare and present AR metrics, including aging, DSO, and bad debt reserves
Analyze trends and provide actionable insights to leadership
Support month-end close and financial reporting activities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of progressive accounts receivable experience, including credit and collections
2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience
Strong knowledge of credit risk analysis and collections best practices
Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
