We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in Los Angeles, California. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments, maintaining financial records, and supporting the organization's financial operations. This is a Contract to permanent position within a non-profit setting, offering an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while advancing your career.
Job Responsibility:
Process and accurately record tuition payments, grants, and other receivables into the accounting system
Reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly payment activities to ensure consistency with financial records
Generate invoices and statements, distributing them to students, families, and external partners
Monitor aging reports and actively follow up on outstanding balances to maintain healthy receivable accounts
Assist in collection efforts while fostering positive relationships with families and program participants
Collaborate with finance and administrative teams to resolve discrepancies and correctly code payments
Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of student account information and payment activities
Prepare detailed reports on receivable trends and account statuses for management review
Support compliance and audit requirements by ensuring all records adhere to internal and external standards
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in accounts receivable, billing, or financial administration, preferably in an educational or non-profit environment
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse community of students, families, and staff
Proficiency in using accounting systems and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with cash applications, collections, and billing functions
Knowledge of best practices in accounts receivable and cash activity management
