We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in Salinas, California, for a contract position within the agriculture industry. This role is vital in ensuring the financial stability of agricultural businesses by managing invoicing, collections, and customer accounts with precision and professionalism. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounts receivable processes and a strong ability to collaborate with clients and internal teams.
Job Responsibility:
Create, review, and process invoices for agricultural products and services, ensuring accuracy
Monitor customer accounts to identify overdue payments and initiate timely follow-ups
Maintain detailed records of receivables, payments, and collection activities
Communicate with growers, distributors, and logistics partners to address invoice status and payment terms
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts promptly and efficiently
Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing procedures
Prepare accounts receivable aging reports and provide insights to management
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and client contract terms
Collaborate with internal teams, such as accounting, sales, and operations, to resolve billing issues and improve cash flow
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
equivalent experience accepted
At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable or general accounting, with agriculture industry experience considered a plus
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Spanish language skills are an advantage
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Familiarity with agricultural business cycles and terminology is beneficial
Experience in managing cash applications, commercial collections, and billing functions effectively
