We are looking for an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a reputable non-profit organization in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to contribute your expertise to vital financial operations. The ideal candidate will excel in managing cash receipts, reconciling accounts, and investigating discrepancies with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Job Responsibility:
Organize and batch daily cash receipts to prepare them for processing in the accounts receivable system
Input cash receipts into accounting systems and ensure daily totals are accurately balanced
Apply payments to invoices while investigating and resolving any discrepancies found
Conduct thorough research to identify missing payment information and resolve outstanding issues
Review unapplied cash reports, analyze discrepancies, and ensure proper allocation of funds
Process and analyze refund requests, ensuring compliance with organizational procedures
Manage branch banking cash receipt batching and research related transactions for accuracy
Review aging reports to identify trends and recommend actionable solutions for improvement
Perform detailed account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records
Support additional accounting tasks as assigned to meet departmental needs
Requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts receivable
Associate degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
Proficiency in processing insurance checks is strongly desired
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software systems
Experience with Great Plains accounting software is a plus
Ability to handle large volumes of checks while maintaining attention to detail
Strong organizational and analytical abilities to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time
Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, and speaking, to effectively collaborate with teams and clients
