A growing dermatology billing group is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable & Medical Appeals Specialist to support multiple dermatology practices across Southwest Florida. This role is ideal for someone who is confident in working insurance denials, submitting appeals, and managing AR follow-up in a fast-paced environment. The Accounts Receivable Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for resolving outstanding insurance balances, following up on unpaid claims, and preparing appeals to ensure accurate reimbursement. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of medical billing workflows, understands dermatology coding, and can work both independently and collaboratively.
Job Responsibility:
Perform timely follow-up on unpaid or denied insurance claims
Research and resolve claim denials, underpayments, and outstanding AR
Prepare and submit insurance appeals with supporting documentation
Review EOBs, eligibility responses, and claim status updates
Communicate with commercial and government insurance payers
Document all billing activity and follow-up actions accurately
Assist with patient billing inquiries (minimal in-person interaction)
Support AR and billing needs for multiple dermatology practices
Build and maintain positive relationships with providers and internal teams
Follow established RCM procedures and compliance guidelines
Requirements:
3+ years recent medical billing and accounts receivable experience
Strong experience with denial management and appeals
Dermatology billing experience strongly preferred
Working knowledge of CPT, ICD‑10, EOBs, and medical insurance billing workflows
Familiarity with commercial and government insurance plans
Proficiency with PM/EHR systems (ModMed preferred)
Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation
